Boston Financial was founded in 1973 as a unique partnership between two of the leading forces in the mutual fund business -- DST Systems® of Kansas City and State Street Bank and Trust Company of Boston. At the time, State Street was looking for a technology partner to provide state-of-the-art support for its back-office shareholder recordkeeping services. Meanwhile, DST had just developed the industry's first real-time mutual fund transaction processing system and was looking for an East Coast business partner to grow its business. The result of this joint venture was Boston Financial, combining DST's best-of-breed technologies with the expertise of a leading global financial services company.
