The Supervisor of Clinical Documentation Improvement is responsible for managing, coordinating and performing day-to-day operations to include personnel management, education, and training for the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) program. Facilitates and promotes standardization across the System and ensures alignment of high quality documentation that supports a compliant and accurate representation of the clinical care provided to patients. Acts as a liaison for system-wide hospital/medical staff in all areas related to clinical documentation improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises CDI personnel and operations to include personnel management, education, and training to ensure achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
Collaboratively works with coding, quality, care management, physician champions, and other key stakeholders to improve clinical documentation.
Conducts data and root cause analysis and communicates clinical documentation opportunities and/or concerns to key stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
As requested, develops reports, collects and prepares data for clinical evaluation purposes, financial impact and profitability.
Provides training to the providers regarding correct documentation requirements.
Works and communicates in a cooperative, timely, respectful manner with management, supervisory staff, coworkers, and other health care personnel when providing information, seeking assistance and/or clarification in resolving problems.
Contributes to CDI strategic planning and process improvement activities.
Working with the director, reviews, revises, and/or implements departmental policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
Maintains current knowledge of CDI trends and stays current with upcoming changes in CDI related activities.
Keeps up to date on coding rules and regulations by reviewing coding periodicals.
Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health and the Catholic Health Ministry.

Associate's degree in Health or Business Administration, Nursing or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.Current Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP), Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS), or Certified Coding Associate (CCA) required and maintained.Experience:
Supervisory or management experience in a health care setting preferred.
